God's Daily Word

"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."
Luke 6:43-45  (NIV)

Altered tin can

I cannot believe it has been almost six months since I have been able to scrap anything.  I decided that it was time to force myself to get back among the  living and start doing what I love to do.  I have a small challenge group and figured the best way to motivate me may be to challenge them!  I posted 7 challenges for them to do this month.  The first challenge was to alter something.  I had used a small can of tuna one day and thought that would be good to alter.  The more I looked at it the more I thought it was too small as I decided to make a mini album to go in it.  So, off to the grocery store I went and found a chicken can that I thought would be just the right size.  I was talking on the phone to my niece as I shopped and when I told her where I was and that I was searching for something to alter, she just laughed at me.  I think she will be surprised with what I chose and how it came out.  lol

The item as purchased:

The finished item after I had a little fun with it.:
Spray painting the can black was the first choice I made.  I wanted to make a Christmas themed item so chose the papers from an older  Daisy Ds pad.  I then chose the stamp I wanted to use......this cute one from Bildmalarna.  I just love their stamps and think they have the sweetest little faces.  The lace border is from a Magnolia die and the sentiment stamp is also Bildmalarna.  I inked all the edges with chestnut roan Color box ink.  The pearls, ribbon and flowers are just out of old stash.

Upon lifting the top off, you will find a little drop down coaster album. A good friend, Alana, sent me some coasters many years ago and am finally getting a few used.  I covered each with black cardstock and then decorated with patterned papers.  After using  my crop a dile to punch holes, I  chained each to the other.  They fold accordion style to fit in the can.

Page one is the bottom of the lid.

I used the nesties die for the scalloped pocket and Magnolia dies for the tags.  A little red stickles around the edges and yellow stickles in the flower centes finished this page off.

 Page 2:

This is a very simple page.  I used a couple red flowers along with a couple punched vine leaves to top the plain square photo mat.  The sentiment stamp as well as the die cut for it is from Whimsy.  Again a little stickles finished this page.

This page is a little fold out matchbook type mat.  The snowman stamp is from Studio G.  The sentiment stamp is just a random one I have and have no idea what company.  The little holly leaves on this page as well as on page two, come from a border punch from Fiskars.  Velcro hold the flaps shut.

Page 4:

Another simple page using a Nesties die and another Fiskars border punch. The red pearls finished this page.   I am still trying to use lots of stash and tools I have had forever that have been neglected.  I will never be able to even make a dent in my room but feel better knowing some are finally getting used!

Page 5:

Another little fold out mat for this last page.  I think I may add a few more decorations and still need to finish the back pages.

Thank you all for stopping by.  I am hoping  to be back into the scrapping world again without any major disruptions.  God bless each of you and many hugs to all.
