Son's birthday card

For years my son and I have had a friendly fight over who was better....Larry or Magic. I decided to make him this card to let him know the fight is still ongoing. lol The box part held four small twix bars but I did not get a photo of them. I also did it for the challenge from my private group that was to make something humorous. I am sure I am the only one that found it funny but I did get a smile from my son as he stated I ruined a great card! lol

Dd's Birthday card box.

This is a card I made for my youngest daughter's birthday. It is the first time I have tried to make the box-book card and am actually happy with it for once. lol I used the cute monkey stamp from CC Designs because my daughter loves monkeys. ( I also thought he is just too cute!) I used three different patterned papers and two different colors of card stock. I used the Nesties for the ovals and a MS border punch for the lace scallops on the inside. As you can see I used plenty of stickles as usual. Gotta love the bling! I filled the box part of the card with her favorite candy-Rolos. Also under the candy is where I wrote our "greetings" to her for her special day. Her son is spending the night with us and he really liked the card. He said he thinks his mom will really like it. This is her son that doesn't show too much emotion for things like this' so it meant a lot to me to see his joy. He said he can't wait for tomorrow for her to get it. lol Gotta love those grandkids!

Simple Easter cards

Since I have been so sick the last month I have not had time to get things done like I wanted to. But, I threw these three cards together rather quickly today and even tho they will be late getting to their destinations, I think the grands will be happy when they get their package. I put little chicks on the inside to represent each grandchild in the respective families because they are my favorite peeps.....well as well as their parents. lol Anyway, I dug deep into my stash for these. First I used some old cards that who knows how long I have owned. Then I used my Creative Memories eggs shape die cut to make each card. For the newer side of stash, I used my new teddy-bunny stamp and also used my CE and my new cartridge Zooballoo to cut the grass. And of course just had to add stickles. lol

Challenges I am entering:

Another Grandson's card

Well finally finished this one. It has been a struggle this week to get me motivated to do anything but knew I had to have it done tonight as Andre's is spending tomorrow night with us for his birthday. His birthday is Monday and one thing he wanted was to stay with us. I did this one very plain and simple. Yoda is a digi printout from kids coloring pages on the internet. My grandson is a huge Star Wars fan so I thought this would be good for him. He is also a fan of easel cards and is always excited when he sees something personalized with his name. The corners and ovals are Quikcutz dies which I have had for a little while but have never used. I inked the edges and then used my TH distressing tool. The colors are a lot brighter in person but my camera seems to fade things out a lot.

Challenges I am entering are:

Sketch N Stash
- sketch

The Play Date Cafe- color challenge

Digi Doodle- stripes (photo corners)

Amber's Crafts and Stuff- favorite things I used my Cuttlebug to cut the dies with and I do love my bug. I also made it for one of my grandsons who are definitely my favorite people in all the world. lol

Thanks for stopping by and may God richly bless you.

Grandson's birthday card

Decided it was time I try to get these cards finished that I need to have done. Partly because I am feeling a little better but mostly because they have to be done! lol This is a first to several cards I have to make for grandsons. I searched for a sketch to use and liked the one from The Sweet Stop for this card. I used the cute little stamps from Lily of the Valley. Also used my new stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps for the sentiment. As I searched thru my tons of charms, I realized I am out of boyish birthday ones, so settled on this cutie in a cap. I think my grandson will like him. I used my creative memories punch and my Nestibilities for the circles.

Challenges I am entering are:

The Sweet Stop- of course, the sketch

Mami Doodles-use a die cut or punch

Catch the Bug/ Bugaboo Stamps- 4 or more layers

Stamp Something- circles

My brother's birthday card

I am finally finished with a well overdue birthday card. I made this for my brother for his birthday. Didn't start out as an easel card....only ended that way because after I got the front all decorated, I realized the card would open from the top. lol So after quickly cutting off at the fold, it soon became and easel card. I was telling my sil about how dumb I was and she said that was a good thing as easel cards are my brother's favorite. So with that being said, I hope he will forgive me for being so slow and hope he likes this little fisherman!

I used the cute little Hanglar fisherman as fishing is one of my brother's favorite pastimes. I also tried my hand at quilling again making the cattails on the bottom part of the card. I dug thru my old old stash of stickers and found the campfire one and decided to use it. I used chestnut roan ink to distress all the edges. Would have used my Tim Holtz distressing tool too but seamed to have misplaced it once again! lol And of course, I just had to use stickles! lol

Bible Box

In 1983 I rededicated my life back to Christ. My mom was really happy with that fact and to show her support, for Christmas that year I unwrapped her old Bible! I was in shock. Tho I had never mentioned to her how much I loved that Bible, she must have known what a perfect gift it was. I sat and cried as she just sat and smiled. Many times in my life I have cradled this Bible and grew strength it the words written. I will cherish it for the rest of my life. I believe it is the best present she has ever given me other than the gift of being my mom. The bookmark was handmade by one of my favorite nieces!

Now to how the box came about. I purchased it while on a shopping journey with my niece in the hopes of making a cricut cartridge box for when I travel. When I finished decorating the top I just had to share with my friend Bev. Bev immediately said it looked more like a box to store a Bible in than cartridges. I just kind of laughed and thought that I was going to proceed with finishing the inside to accommodate the cartridges. A couple days ago, while playing on eBay, I ended up purchasing a Gypsy. Well, with a Gypsy, I have no need for a box. lol I immediately placed my precious Bible in said box and am happy with that now! I do think I may line the inside with velvet to help protect the Bible more. It has now gone from an ordinary wooden box into a very special "treasure " chest full of hope! I antiqued it all with ink and then sprayed the entire top with Glimmer Mist. I added extra bling to the flowers by using Shimmerz. I also added glitter to one of the butterflies and embossing powder to the other. Anyone that knows me knows I love bling on my projects!

I thank you all for stopping by. I pray God will bless each on in a very special way!

The top photo shows the colors a little more true. They look a little muted on this next photo.

I hope to line the inside with velvet and padding in order to more protect the Bible.

Challenges I am entering are:

Whoopsi Daisy- flowers

Stamp Something- cream and green

Papertake Weekly- 3 of something....I used 3 patterned papers

Two layouts done!

I have finally finished two layouts instead of just making cards! :-) The first one is my oldest grand child spending a day at the races with us. The other one is my youngest grandchild on his first Halloween. I really hate "spray painting" their faces but my children have all said they do not want their children's faces out on the open net. Although I have to agree I still hate painting their faces! lol

Thanks for stopping by. Hugs to all and may God bless each one.

Card for Luke!

Lacey from Stamp and Create is having a card drive and fund raisers to help a little boy named Luke. You can read more about him on her blog, so please go visit her blog as well as her store! I was really touched by his story and wanted to make a card for him. I am challenging everyone who reads this to make him a card also! I just spent the last week at my little get away island and this was the very first project on my list. I chose to make an easel card thinking Luke may like it standing. I chose the scripture as that seems to be one of many that the family is drawing strength from as they lean totally on God to see them thru this ordeal. I hope you will add Luke and his family to your prayers.

I am entering lots of challenges in hopes of spreading Lukes' story:

Valentine for my Girls

This is the card I made for the grand daughters for V-day. I decided to see how many different things I could do to this card. lol I used my new paper pad by DCWV and for something old I used my sewing machine.....well over 25 years old. I then used a MS punch for the border as well as some lace ribbon. I inked all the edges for the distressed look.Used my Expression for the flourishes. Then I dug out my Blingz and Shimmerz and added them.....Blingz on the flowers and Shimmerz on the flourishes and lace border. Of course I just had to add a little stickles here and there on the stamped image. I found the little white bud things in some wedding junk I had left over from my dd's wedding......over 10 years ago. The darling little image is from Bildmalarna's new "Little Winged Friends" set. I think they are all so cute! I colored the image with copics, chalks and pencils.

A very nontraditional Valentine!

I have been scrapping layouts for scrapbooks so have not been here to post much lately. Thank you again, Anessa, for missing me! I will try to make more for this blog between scrapping photos. I am planning on doing a box to store my Cricut cartridges in as well as some altered "fake" books for some of my grandsons. Hopefully I can get them done soon and get them posted. I also need to make two more V cards in a hurry! Now on to this one.......

The challenge for Biddy Buddies this month is a Valentine but it has to have yellow on it. As you can see I made it an easel card since they are one of my favs. I just love this Hanglar stamp and he does have a heart on him. lol I know it doesn't look like much of a Valentine card but it is what it is. lol I had to add the "S" at the end of Valentine so I can give it to my son's family since I probably will not have time to make individual cards this year. I also just had to find a place to add a little stickles! Love that bling! I had some more fun playing with my Expression too. Maybe someday I will even know how to use it! I also used my nesties and cuttlebug, so am feeling happy that my tools are getting used a little!

Challenges I am entering are:

Creative Stamp Friends-shapes (die cuts)

A Spoon Full of Sugar-Valentine

Get Well Card

In Biddy Buddies this month, our challenge is to make a "get well" creation and must use brown and pink somewhere on it. I chose this darling little Lily of the Valley image because I thought she was too cute. And more importantly, I had colored her some time ago so didn't have to spend time with that today. lol

Last week as I was searching blogs for challenges, I found a fun one from Crafty Cardmakers. They are challenging us to show our latest creation as well as one of our first ones. I figured I would just post the first one I ever made when I started blogging. But, just this moment, as I retrieved it, I found it kind of humorous that is was also a get well card. I do think I have improved a bit from the simple card it was. Thank goodness for stickles and inks and flourishes and the awesome talented bloggers I have learned from! So here it is as lame as it was! lol

Challenges I am entering the pink card in are:

I also am breaking in my new Cricut Expression with this being the first creation with it.

And a few of the awesome challenges are:

Anessa! Just for you!

Since you asked, I will show a few more things I did for Christmas. I have not really done too much since but am hoping to get busy and actually scrap in my grandkids' books. I have not done a single layout in way over a year. Here are a couple picture frames I altered for my son and oldest daughter.

My youngest has always loved monkeys so I knew I had to try to alter this little wooden clock I found at Michael's. Her boys were so excited when they saw it and could hardly wait for her to open it Christmas morning.

I also crocheted her this little fellow that was equally awaited her opening. lol
The only thing I have attempted since Christmas was this birthday card for my oldest grand daughter. She wanted an easel card with a horse on it. These are also some of her favorite colors. I really struggled making this one as I really really wanted to do pink and frilly! lol

Now on to some serious business here. lol After Christmas I found this in the back of my car. The only clue I have as to where it came from is a note written on the top of the box. If anyone has any clue at all as to who got into my car without permission (lol), please let me know. My entire family is stumped as to who did it. At first I "blamed" my children and DH, but they have now convinced me they know just as much as I do. I love it and would love to thank the person responsible! So any and all info would be wonderful! Thanks.
Anyway, I thank you Anessa for missing me and I hope to have more to post real soon. Hugs to you and may God truly bless you and yours.

Jewelry box for Christmas

I saw these small wooden jewelry boxes in the unfinished wood section at Hobby Lobby and decided to try to alter it for a Christmas gift. I have a certain someone in mind for it but not sure she will like it (but sure am hoping she will)! lol I first stained it and then started covering parts. I then spent several hours looking for a sketch to make an easel card for the top. I added a magnet to keep it shut when lying flat so won't just flop around when they open the lid. She loves flowers and bling so added plenty! I also inked all the edges for a more antique look. I added a little heart charm to finish it off. I did have fun working on this and hope to make a few more if this one goes over well. I am entering in the following challenges:
